Job Summary The Advocacy Officer works alongside the Advocacy Leader in organizing the activities of the organization. Primary focus is on seminars, conferences, some specific campaigns and liaison with research programs and networking. In general, s/he assists the Advocacy Leader in the ongoing initiatives and acts as a resource to both organization and outside partners.


Key Responsibility Areas
  • •   Assist Advocacy Leader in designing, planning and implementing advocacy strategy and campaigns for the organization
  • •   Organizing seminars, workshops and special lectures; shall spend much of the time in correspondence with speakers, press and invitees
  • •   Leading National Conferences and Annual Day to sensitize national and international audiences and stakeholders
  • •   Write and send press releases, write seminar reports and undertake background research on the topics of seminars
  • •   Assist Advocacy Leader in writing up budgets and take care of logistics for speakers, invitees and participants
  • •   Developing new and imaginative fundraising activities
  • •   Increasing funds by researching and targeting Corporate, Government Bodies and charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity’s aims and activities
  • •   Actively participate and represent the organization in various networks and movements
  • •   Assist Advocacy Leader in recording minutes of the meetings (where required)
  • •   Develop media contacts and serve as public spokesperson as needed to advance the advocacy agenda of the organization
  • •   Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information
  • •   Design interventions to raise the level of sensitivity and awareness among the parents of PWDs to attract the early participation of PWDs in employment activities
  • •   Daily updating on Social Media and Website platform i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube and other social media platforms
  • •   Support the process to form networks with various stakeholders such as development sector donors, NGOs, private sector, research organizations and academic institutions to mobilize their support for sustainable development initiatives

     
Essential Skills
  • •   Post Graduate in Social Work or any related domain
  • •   At least 2 years of work experience in the related field

  • •   Fluency in written and spoken English required
  • •   Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • •   Strong communication and networking skills
  • •   Research skills necessary
  • •   Demonstrate advocacy and fundraising skills
