“Thalassemia didn't stop me; it fueled my fight to dream bigger.” – Karamvir

While most children fear injections, Karamvir grew up with regular blood transfusions due to a congenital condition — Thalassemia. Diagnosed from birth, he faced more hospitals than playgrounds, but he never let his disability define him.

With the unwavering support of his family, Karamvir lived his childhood just like any other kid — playing, studying, and staying joyful.

A bright student, Karamvir dreamed big. After completing his schooling and graduation, he set his sights on IIM — and he made it! He was accepted into IIM Ranchi, where he completed his MBA in Human Resources in 2024.

But life took a harsh turn. After securing placement in a reputed company, Karamvir was rejected due to his disability — a moment that shattered his spirit. The always-positive, always-energetic Karamvir found himself demotivated and deeply disheartened.

That’s when he discovered Sarthak Educational Trust.

Despite being highly qualified, Karamvir joined Sarthak’s training and placement program, where he not only honed his skills but also rebuilt his confidence. The program helped him polish his weak areas, prepare professionally, and reclaim his self-belief.

Today, Karamvir is working as a Trainee at GAIL India, earning a monthly stipend of ₹22,400 — a symbol of his perseverance and transformation. Once rejected due to his disability, he is now thriving in a reputed company that has given wings to his career.

Karamvir's story goes beyond personal success. He is just 26 years old, but he has big dreams of creating awareness in the disability sector, especially about Thalassemia, the condition he has lived with since birth.

To spread awareness, he organized a blood donation camp at his IIM Ranchi campus, where he educated people about Thalassemia as a disability and its impact on daily life. This initiative was just the beginning.

Karamvir aspires to organize more such awareness camps in the future and is deeply committed to serving society. His goal is to work in a higher position in the government sector where he can influence change and partner with NGOs to work for the betterment of people with disabilities.

The blood donation camp was just one example of his passion — and he’s determined to do much more.

Karamvir says, “Strength is built not by avoiding hardships, but by facing them head-on.” Thalassemia, a challenge he was born with, has given him the strength to chase dreams beyond the ordinary and achieve what seemed impossible.
