Threads of Courage: Arti Rohilla’s Journey of Motherhood and Hope ✨

When life stripped everything away, Arti Rohilla chose not to surrender to what she had lost—but to build something meaningful from what still remained.

A single mother and a woman with a locomotor disability caused by polio, Arti’s life has been shaped by challenges that arrived far too early and far too often.

Polio affected her when she was just two years old. Despite every effort her parents made, the damage was irreversible. Attempts to walk with calipers failed, and a wheelchair became her lifelong companion. Limited accessibility meant her formal education ended at Class 12—but her resilience was only just beginning to grow.

Loss, Responsibility, and Unbreakable Resolve

Loss followed her relentlessly. She lost her parents at a young age. Years later, she lost her husband too—suddenly becoming the sole pillar for her young son.

In the quiet aftermath of grief, there were moments of darkness, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion. But giving up was never an option—because a little boy was watching, depending, believing.

To support her son, Arti did whatever she could. With the help of community support, she started a small food and grocery cart—an honest effort to keep her household running. Every day became a test of strength, dignity, and endurance. And yet, she stood firm.

Threads That Healed

Crochet had always been her silent comfort. As a child, she learned by watching her sister-in-law’s nimble hands. Over time, threads became her language—expressing emotions words could not.

She competed in crochet events as early as 2004 and once stood close to an international platform. But life’s responsibilities forced her dreams to pause.

Years later, amid loss and responsibility, Arti picked up her crochet hook again. Stitch by stitch, she rebuilt not just her craft—but herself. What began as a small home-based effort slowly transformed into confidence, purpose, and renewed belief.

A Golden Turning Point

Then came a moment that changed everything—the Abilympics Skill Competitions, organized by Sarthak Educational Trust and NAAI.

Arti competed at the North Zone Abilympics in Lucknow, pouring her heart into every thread she created. Her dedication was rewarded with a Gold Medal in the Crochet Skill category. 🥇

It wasn’t just a medal—it was proof. Proof to herself, and to her son, that starting again is always possible.

In December, she continued her winning journey by securing the Silver Medal at the 12th National Abilympics 2025 in Delhi. 🥈

Dreaming Beyond Limits

Today, Arti trains with renewed determination, dreaming of one day representing India on the international stage. 🇮🇳

Her story reminds us that resilience doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers through sleepless nights, quiet sacrifices, and a mother’s unwavering promise to her child.

In every thread she weaves lives a story of loss, love, and unstoppable courage. Her hands may create crochet—but her greatest creation is a life rebuilt with strength, dignity, and endless hope, all for the future of her son.
